Keynsham Town Girls 30th September 2007

The last day of September heralded the Start of Autumn and more importantly the start of the Fry Club Girls come back to form against the high flying Keynsham Town Girls.

This game was a pivotal match for the Fry Club Girls, had the playing staff finally come up with a competitive team sheet to play some quality football?

With the much in form central defender and captain Charlotte out with injury, and Chelsie unavailable for selection, manager Jackie Tite, again needed to gamble on running out a brand-new signing in the form of ex Bristol Rovers Girls defender Hayley!

Straight from the kick-off The Fry Club Girls were out of the traps and pressuring the Keynsham Town Girls defenders! Then within the first five minutes and completely against the run of play Keynsham scored after some sloppy defending by the Frys Girls, to put Keynsham in front 0-1.

The Fry Club Girls I am glad to report immediately responded and after a shot from Natalie rebounded off a defender and the Keynsham Town keeper, the ball some how found its way into the back of the net 1-1!

The first half ebbed and flowed, with both sides playing some great football. Keynsham came the closest to going ahead but for a truly brave double save from the Fry's Keeper Rikki Lee!

As the whistle blew for half time the score remained level at 1-1.

Both teams came out with the intention of wining the game in the second half and the tempo of the game hit a new high.

New Frys signing Hayley after a very strong first half performance really got in her stride. She started to link up very nicely in her forward play with Steph "G" who was constantly tearing off down the right wing! Then came a moment of utter brilliance from the Frys stand in captain Alice.

The Keynsham centre forward received a long over the top ball and was clear with only the keeper Rikki Lee to beat. As she drew back to shoot in the box, Alice came from nowhere and literally tapped the ball off the forwards feet! This was a pivotal moment and thanks to their captain Frys grew in stature.

Time and time again Ashlea, Steph"G", Natalie and Danni tried to unlock the Keynsham defence. Danni came the closest to wining the game for the Fry Club Girls with a shot that was harder to miss than score! She sadly spooned it over the bar.

Another brand new signing for the Fry Club Girls, Georgia then took to the field as a replacement for Steph "C".

The game was now on a knife edge as both teams started to tire and if either side was to score then it was inevitable that this team would win the game.

Steph "C" was swapped back for Georgia with around 10 mins remaining, after Georgia had shown great movement and determination to get involved.

The final whistle blew on what was a great game of football with the scores tied at 1-1 and the Fry Club Girls gained their first well earned point of the season.

Player of the match for this game was so very difficult to pick after a fantastic display from every single Fry Club player, But it went to Alice who was simply out standing in every way! Very well done Alice you were inspirational!

Mentioned in dispatches for this game and in no particular order are, Natalie, Ashlea, Danni, Emma, Emily, Sophie, Georgia, Steph "G", Steph "C", Rikki Lee and Hayley. Yes that's all of the Fry Club Girls team and sub as this was truly a fantastic TEAM EFFORT in which every last one of you was great!

Very well done!!
